What is Ultrasound Imaging?
An ultrasound is carried out using high frequency sound waves. The waves are sent out and bounce off tissue and return to the machine at different frequencies. An ultrasound machine translates the sound waves into images on a computer monitor which can be viewed.
What is the Difference between a 3D and 4D Ultrasound?
A 3D ultrasound is a picture that shows the baby. In these images we can see the shape of the baby’s face, the contours of the baby’s lips and nose. The color of the images that you see is not the color of the baby. The images are enhanced by the computer to make them more appealing.
4D ultrasounds show the movement of the baby’s tissue. They offer clips of the baby moving. A 4D ultrasound is similar to a 3D ultrasound except that you can see your baby in motion.
